Decompression catheter (Acutherm®)
If the contained slipped disc is located more to the side (“lateral”), in the region of the nerve root canal (“intraforaminal”), the so-called thermal decompression catheter (Acutherm®) offers treatment. Similar to intradiscal electrothermal annuloplasty (IDET), a flexible heating wire is inserted into the fibrous ring of the intervertebral disc and heated.
